Motion 1424, Moved by Councillor Powell.
That in view of the fact that a joint
meeting of the two School Boards has
been arranged for March 13th, and over—
looked by Council at its Meeting of
March 4th, a letter be directed to the
St. Albert School District No. 3, re-
questing that their Board withold any
action until this meeting has taken plac.
between the two School Boards, on March
13th, 1963.

CARRIED
Mayor Veness suggested that if the matte:
could not be settled at this joint meet-
ing, then ir should be placed before the
Edmonton District
Advisory Board. The Mayor stated that
he wished it to be clearly understood
that Council did not wish to become in—
volved in the matter of school sites and
that it should be settled between the
two school boards if at all possible. If
not, then settlement should be sought as

suggested above.

LOOK & GUESS

Last week's Look and Guess was a real
easy one - a handle. But what is it on?
Some said a suitcase, a clothing box, a
carrying case, an oven door, a tool box,
a drawer and even a car. But no one was
able to see that it was the handle of a
vacuum cleaner. That means that this
week's contest will be worth $4.50 so
be sure to enter, Maybe this will be

CANCER CONTROL SUNDAY

On Sunday, March 31, 1963, Cancer Contro
Sunday will be observed by religious
leaders of all faiths in many churches
in Alberta. "It is to be observed by
special prayers devoted to asking Divine
Guidance to our scientists and doctors
and to offer relief to those suffering
from this dread disease", J. C. Brennan
President of Edmonton and District
Branch announced today.

‘The Canadian Cancer Society mst raise a
total of $3,682,000. for its three-fold
programme of research, education and
Welfare this year. Alberta's objective
has been set at $400,000. We need more
funds than in our history. This is due
mainly to the support of research at the
University of Alberta Cancer Research
Unit (McEachern Laboratory) in Edmonton.
The newly conpleted biochemistry laborat
ory is one of the finest in Canada and
offers new hope for cancer at our own
doorstep. Last year nearly 24,000 Can-
adians died of cancer, many of them need
lessly. The Society is working hard to
promote better cancer education to save
many more lives in the future. Although
we must ask our people of the Edmonton
district to give to conquer cancer, we
must also ask that our Crusade be stren-
gthened with their prayers. We must con
tinue to fight cancer with a check-up
and a cheque, but we must never under-
estimate the precious value of prayer.
